The Cape Coral Academy of Music is pleased to be the first In Lee County to offer Musikgarten classes. Musikgarten was created by internationally-renowned early childhood music educator Lorna Lutz-Heyge, PhD and Audrey Sillick, Montessori pioneer, to provide the highest quality music education programs possible for children and their families.
Our unique programs create an environment that nurtures the total development of children from birth on up. Research has shown that consistent musical exposure during the "sensitive and critical period" greatly improves children's musical enjoyment, understanding and achievement.
For children, play is their work and work is their play. Early childhood music study MUST be musical PLAY-informal, without pressure, including parents, with a strong emphasis on active participation in the musical experience. In early childhood, we learn to love music and thus lays the basis for formal musical study. Additionally, studies have proven that success in school is directly related to the amount of exposure to music that a child receives in early childhood.
